Prioritizing the Preservation of Black Legacies in Santa Barbara

Join us for a virtual film screening, panel discussion, and Q&A as we learn about the historical and cultural context of Black people in Santa Barbara. For decades, Local Black community members have been archiving important historical moments, artifacts, and memories of Black History in Santa Barbara. Recently, Healing Justice SB has partnered with the City of Santa Barbara on the preservation of Black landmarks.
The development of the African American/Black Historic Context Statement has been financed in part with Federal funds from the National Park Services Department of the Interior, through the California Office of Historic Preservation. This event is supported in part by The Marjorie Luke Theatre’s Dreier Family Rent Subsidy Fund.
